The Trail of the Coeur d'Alene is a 72-mile path through the Historic Silver Valley and beyond. The town of Coeur d'Alene is within 60 miles of 60 lakes, making it a year-round hotspot for aquatic sport and activity. Priest Lake is known for its excellent back-packing and forest hiking trails, while Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho's largest lake, is best for camping and scenic cruises.

Nearby St. Joe National Scenic River offers paddle fanatics Class III whitewater rafting opportunities. The Coeur d'Alene Resort is a 1st class resort with attendant 1st class prices, but if it's in the budget, it's quite a getaway spot. The Coeur d'Alene Resort features a European Spa, cruises, the world's longest floating boardwalk and a championship golf course with the world's only floating green. In the winter the scenery goes from gorgeous to eye-popping and the thousands of lights don't hurt.

Silver Mountain in nearby Kellogg has 2,200-feet vertical, 65 trails, 7 lifts and the worlds longest Gondola. The Silverwood Theme Park has family fun like rides and games, and waterslides aplenty in its new facility Boulder Beach Waterpark.
